  • Raised in Florida, Sasha developed a deep passion for performing from a young age.
  • Sasha’s journey into acting started at 11 when she found an open call for Disney Channel auditions.

Sasha Bhasin, a rising star in the entertainment industry who has garnered attention for her role in the second season of Netflix’s “XO, Kitty,” is currently at the age of 27 as of January 2025.

Bhasin, who portrays a queer Indian student at KISS (Korean Independent School of Seoul), was born in 1997.

In the new season of “XO, Kitty,” based on the Korean adaptation of “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before,” she plays Kitty’s (Anna Cathcart) love interest, Praveena.

Interestingly, she has a significant age difference with her character – Praveena, who is assumed to be 17 in the series.

Despite this age gap, Sasha’s portrayal brings depth and authenticity to Praveena’s character, contributing to the show’s growing popularity.

Sasha was born in India and, at the age of just a few months, moved with her family to Wellington, Florida, in the US.

Growing up in Florida, she always felt a deep passion for performing. She recalls:

I always liked being in a spotlight. I always liked performing for my family.

Her acting journey started at the age of 11 when she discovered a Disney Channel open call in Virginia. Determined to pursue her passion, she recalls:

I cried to my mom one day. We were in Florida at the time, and I was like, ‘We can drive. Please, please, please take me there. This is all I want to do.’ After days of wailing, her mom finally gave in, so they packed up the car and set off on their little road trip without telling Bhasin’s father, who was “really against the whole concept of acting” then.

Despite her father’s reservations, he eventually supported her passion for acting, allowing her to pursue various auditions.

Upon arriving at the audition, Sasha was faced with thousands of kids, all with the same dream of acting. She and her mom waited in line for hours until Sasha was given a script from “Good Luck Charlie” to memorize. She recalls the overwhelming experience:

I got into that room, and I froze. I froze completely. I’d never taken an acting class. I was so nervous.

Despite the nerves, Sasha’s journey continued, and her parents played a pivotal role in supporting her aspirations. Their encouragement has been crucial in shaping her growth as an actress.

She later moved to New York for college and attended NYU, where she studied Politics. Upon graduating during the pandemic, she shared:

It wasn’t until I moved to New York for college and I went to NYU that I really found my voice, and I [realised] that not only that I really want to do this [acting], [but also that] I’m, actually, maybe good at it.

Sasha further reflected:

I started to get more empowered being in front of people and being seen. I think that is a big part, especially in the world we live in where everybody’s seen on social media, we’re so exposed, but at the same time, in person, nobody wants to say anything to each other.

Her role in “XO, Kitty” came at a time when she least expected it. After securing a post-graduation tech job, she had stopped auditioning for months and was on the verge of passing up the opportunity.

However, after watching the “To All the Boys” series, she decided to give acting one last try. She recorded a quick audition at a friend’s apartment, which led to a callback and, eventually, landing the role of Praveena in her mid-20s.

Before “XO, Kitty,” Sasha played Jasmin in the short film “It Starts with Murder?” (2020).

She has also appeared in the first five episodes of the new medical drama “The Pitt,” which premiered in January 2025.

Sasha is now set to star in the upcoming Damian Harris film “Brave the Dark” (2025), where she will play the role of Tina Baxter.

Thanks to her passion for acting, Sasha Bhasin has quickly risen in prominence, and as she’s still in her 20s, the future looks incredibly promising for her in Hollywood.
