Details Of The Incident
According to authorities, the crash occurred around 12:30 a.m. on Back River Road, near the intersection with County Road in Bedford, directly in front of the Peter Woodbury School.
Reports state that the vehicle, traveling south, veered off the right side of the roadway, struck a utility pole, and rolled over into the school’s parking lot.
Emergency crews from the Bedford Police and Fire Departments responded swiftly but tragically found the driver, identified later as Lauren Souza, had succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
She was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
Residents nearby recalled hearing the crash, including one neighbor, Mark Oswald, who described hearing a loud boom followed by what sounded like a transformer explosion.
He assisted first responders by directing them to the parking lot where the vehicle came to rest.

Remembering Lauren Souza
Lauren was more than a bright student; she was a vibrant and talented member of the Trinity community.
An academic honor student who consistently made the principal’s list, she was admired for her dedication both inside and outside the classroom.
Lauren was part of Trinity’s 40A Robotics Team, which recently competed at the NH/VT VEX 5 High School State Championship in March 2025.
Her team finished 8th out of 39 teams, reached the quarterfinals, and received both the Judges Award and the Sportsmanship Award.
In addition to her academic and technical achievements, Lauren was a valued member of the Trinity volleyball team.
