Bryson McGlynn’s Parents Are Proud Of The “MasterChef Junior” Winner

His parents were cheering him throughout the competition!

Bryson McGlynn has finally won season 9 of “MasterChef Junior” after a heated battle in the presence of his family and friends.

Key Takeaways

  • Bryson McGlynn was born to his parents, Mike and Shannon McGlynn, who have been his biggest motivators.
  • Father Mike founded the Auburn BBQ/Grill Association, where Bryson learned to grill, and his passion for cooking was generated.

Bryson McGlynn competed against two talented young chefs, Michael Seegobin and Remy Powell, under the judges, including Chefs Gordon Ramsay and Aarón Sanchez.

His parents, Auburn alumni Mike and Shannon McGlynn, were in the studio audience for the two-part “MasterChef Junior” finale and were cheering him throughout the competition.

To be in the audience and watch Bryson cook, no matter what the results were, we couldn’t have been more proud. It was a dream come true.

The Opelika native, a sixth-grader at Fox Run School, has earned a MasterChef trophy and a $100,000 cash prize.

The young chef’s dream is to own and operate a cheese mobile food truck, which he can now achieve.

During an interview with Parade, he said,

I’m going to save most of it and put it into an account. A big thing is I want to invest in a food truck, as well as into college or culinary school.

Bryson McGlynn

He continued,

I really, really want to do this as my actual job because I’ve always had a huge passion for it, and I want to keep that passion going.

His love for cooking comes from his father’s passion for cooking. In fact, Mike taught him to cook stakes.

Mike McGlynn is the founder of the Auburn BBQ/Grill Association and an associate band director and percussion director for Opelika City Schools.

The dad-son duo started traveling after Bryson began entering the kids’ division of cooking competitions several years ago.

Talking about his son’s journey, Mike said,

It’s been awesome to see Bryson grow not only in his culinary journey, but through his character and staying true to himself. It’s a dream come true for a father.

Likewise, Shannon couldn’t be more proud of her son:

I’m extremely proud of him. When he was 2, he would push up his chair to help when we were cooking. It’s been neat to see his love for cooking grow, and to get to do it with his dad along the way has been special.
