Ex-Wife and Kids Pay Tribute!

Key Takeaways

  • Fatman Scoop, father of two, passed away on August 30, 2024.
  • His family remembered him as a vibrant performer and a devoted family member.
  • His ex-wife, Shanda Freeman, previously an HIV/AIDS counselor, is now the CEO of the eyewear brand Disco Sis.

Fatman Scoop, known as a rapper, hype man, and radio personality from America, was married twice and has two kids. He was also a stepfather to Stephanie, the daughter of his ex-wife Shanda Freeman.

Scoop was well-known for his guest roles in the 2005 tracks “Lose Control” by Missy Elliott and “It’s Like That” by Mariah Carey.

Freeman passed away unexpectedly at age 53 on August 30, 2024, after collapsing on stage in Connecticut during a concert. The cause of d*ath is not yet known. His family provided a statement:

Last night, the world lost a radiant soul, a beacon of light on the stage and in life. Fatman Scoop was not just a world-class performer, he was a father, brother, uncle, and a friend. He was laughter in our lives, a constant source of support, unwavering strength, and courage. FatMan Scoop’s legacy is of love and brightness, it will reside in our hearts and memories forever.

In response to his d*ath, Shanda posted a photo with her ex-husband, along with two broken heart emojis.

She also wrote an emotional tribute to her late ex-husband, referring to him as an “icon.” She wrote:

He was an ICON and LEGEND and so many people love him. He was a pure heart and loved reaching back and helping others.

Shanda initially worked as an HIV/AIDS counsellor and is now the CEO of Disco Sis, an eyewear brand.

In 2008, the duo had a television show titled “Man and Wife,” a relationship talk show that emphasized safe s*x, monogamy, and loyalty.

Limited information exists on how Shanda and Fatman Scoop met, but it is said they first connected in 2002. They enjoyed a 13-year marriage before divorcing.

During an interview with The Premium Pete Show, he revealed:

Our divorce had nothing to do with cheating, infidelity. I never touched a woman in 13 years while I was with her. It had to do with other issues. But when you love someone so deeply, man, divorce is a motherf–ker. I wouldn’t wish that s–t on Bin Laden.

He further said:

I went through two marriages, I am a two-time loser… I’m good with this. I’m gonna end the rest of my life off the way I am.

In a YouTube video by Val Kleyman, he opened up about his 2020 divorce, admitting, “I was actually afraid to get a divorce.”

Details about the first wife’s name have not been shared.

Fatman Scoop’s Kids Remain Out of the Spotlight

Fatman Scoop has a son and a daughter from his marriage to Shanda, but his children have stayed out of the public eye.

He shared a picture of his daughter, Tiana Evangeline, at her junior prom in June 2018. The caption reads:

Scary Shit….I rarely put up personal pics but my daughter @tiana_evangeline went to her junior prom. She is now becoming a beautiful young lady and I know these DAMN FOOLS are gonna be trying to do what I WAS TRYING TO DO 20 years ago….Karma is a mothafucka…smh….its just scary….

Her Instagram account, with over 800 followers, includes a bio that reads “PSU🐾,” hinting that she attended Penn State University.

In December 2018, Scoop posted a rare throwback photo from 2001 featuring his son.

Although Fatman hasn’t shared more details about his children, both of them are in their 20s and have finished high school.
