Sailing La Vagabonde Meets An Accident In The Sea While Going Through Japan

Everyone is safe!

The popular YouTuber couple Riley and Elayna have been making videos in their anchored yacht for a while. They have amassed an impressive fanbase over the years.

What shocked many, however, was their recent Sailing La Vagabonde accident when they were going through Japan.

Key Takeaways

  • La Vagabonde is a yacht that was struck by a boat on their way through Japan.
  • The couple, Riley and Elayna, who owns the boat, gave out a public statement regarding the situation on their Facebook page.
  • There were seven yacht passengers and two in the boat. None of them were harmed.

Riley and Elayna have been filming their journey in La Vagabonde for several years now.

The couple’s journey, very recently, had been interrupted by a minor accident. While there had not been anyone who was hurt in the process, the case was likely to get severe with time.

According to Yahoo, the case has now been deemed hit-and-run by the Japan Police.

The couple in this case were confrontational about the situation and made sure to not back from letting their followers know about the truth.

In their official page, Riley wrote,

“Statement on Recent Incident at Sea
We recently experienced the most harrowing ordeal of our lives. Whilst my family and I were sleeping our boat was struck in an accident that has left us shaken and deeply impacted. We are immensely grateful for the messages of support and understanding from everyone during this time. As we process and recover from this incident, we kindly ask for your patience as we take some much-needed time to regroup and assess the situation.”

Both among the pair had clearly been clueless about the accident as they had been sleeping. This incident, whatsoever, has apparently left a mark on them as a traumatic one.

The post further said,

“No one was physically harmed, for which we are deeply grateful. However, the damage to our vessel is extensive, and our sailing journey has been interrupted indefinitely. While we will provide further details in due course, we are aware of an article circulating in Japan that contains inaccuracies regarding the incident. We ask for your understanding as we address these discrepancies and manage the legal complexities involved.”

From this, it is clear that the accident and the event, overall, are still under investigation.

It is not just the followers who do not know, with clarity, about the situation, but also those who were actually affected by the incident, including the owners of the yacht.

A netizen wrote as a response to the post,

“How utterly awful for you all – we love watching your family adventures and are so shocked that you have to go through this experience. Our thoughts are with you and are relieved that you are all safe. X”

Another added,

“So grateful everyone’s safe! Dealing with misinformation must be stressful, but remember, your community stands by you. Enjoying your content and sending positive vibes; take the time you need”

The La Vagabonde Accident: What Really Happened

While Riley’s post makes clear suggestions on what had happened, Japan’s Yahoo had also written their fair bit on the situation.

The article read,

“According to the Shodoshima Coast Guard, at around 2:40 a.m. on the 4th, the captain of a fishing boat called 118 to report that his fishing boat had collided with a yacht that was anchored and anchored in the waters about 150 meters southwest of the western end of Okinoshima in Tonosho Town.”

Furthermore, there had reportedly been five adults and two children from Australia, Sweden, France and the UK and the captain aged 39.

There had been no leakage of oil or water in either the boat or the yacht. The article added,

“The fishing boat had departed Shikai Fishing Port in Tonosho Town for bottom trawl fishing and was sailing toward the fishing grounds off the coast of Chifuri Island. The yacht was scheduled to drop anchor near Okinoshima at 7 p.m. on the 3rd and sail toward Hiroshima Prefecture.”
