Tara Swart Met Her Husband On A Flight

An Unexpected Meeting!

Key Takeaways

  • Tara Swart met her husband on a flight in 2016.
  • Both Tara and her husband had long separations from love before finding each other.
  • They share a son and enjoy a happy family life.

Dr. Tara Swart, a renowned neuroscientist and author of “The Source,” is married, though her husband’s identity remains largely private.

Despite her public presence, Tara has consciously chosen to maintain a private personal life. Little is known about her husband, reflecting her desire to keep the focus on her work while preserving her family’s privacy.

Although she prefers privacy, Tara has shared glimpses of how she met her husband. Their story began in early 2016 when they met by chance on a flight from Johannesburg to London.

This unexpected encounter led to an engagement nine months later, followed by their wedding.

Together, they share the joy of parenthood, raising their son with pride and happiness.

In late 2015, prior to meeting her husband, Tara was undergoing a significant personal transformation. She embraced practices like yoga and digital detoxes and focused on eliminating negativity from her life.

At the end of the year, she created a new action board for 2016, featuring her dreams and desires. In the top left corner of this board, she placed an image of an engagement ring and the phrase, “Joy comes out of the blue.”

Just two months later, she met her now husband on that fateful flight—a meeting she describes as both unexpected and destined. This encounter reinforced her belief in the power of visualization and action boards.

She credits her visualization practices with helping her manifest the life she desired, including finding love again after long periods of separation—nine years for her and seventeen years for her husband. Both had previously decided against remarriage but found true love later in life.

Tara’s journey of emotional healing, from a successful marriage to a personal breakdown following a divorce, further shaped her views on life and the brain’s capacity to heal and transform.

She believes these practices aided her recovery and played a pivotal role in leading her to her husband.

In a rare, intimate glimpse into her married life, Tara shared her bedtime routine during an interview. She revealed:

I cuddle my husband so we both get a dose of the bonding hormone oxytocin. We have no devices in the bedroom. I do 5-10 minutes of Vedic meditation or yoga nidra. I track my sleep using the Oura ring.

The Influence Of Tara Swart’s Indian Family On Her Career And Life

Raised in an immigrant Indian family in London, Dr. Tara Swart’s upbringing was steeped in traditions like yoga, meditation, and vegetarianism.

However, as she pursued her career in medicine, she temporarily set aside these traditional practices.

Initially, she felt the pressure to live two separate lives, but later, she embraced both cultures and found a harmonious balance between them.

For her education, she completed her BSc in Biomedical Science and PhD in Neuropharmacology at King’s College London, followed by a BM BCh in Medicine from the University of Oxford.

Currently, she is a Senior Advisor in Neuroscience & Leadership at MIT Sloan Executive Education and a Trustee at The Lady Garden Foundation.

She is also the author of three books, including “The Source,” where she explains how our brain influences health, happiness, wealth, and love through conscious thought, emotion regulation, and action.

She credits her family, particularly her maternal grandfather, a successful author and journalist in India, for fostering her love for books and learning during her childhood.

Through her journey of blending science and spirituality, she reconciled her upbringing and found balance in life, supported by her husband and family while pursuing her career.
