Tomer attended The Open University, earning a BA in Social Sciences and Humanities from 2002 to 2005.

He also holds a master’s degree in human factors in information design from Bentley University in Waltham, Massachusetts.

Tomer’s career began as a Field Artillery Officer in the Israel Defense Forces from 1989 to 1996, during which time he served as a lieutenant colonel for seven years.

Afterwards, he worked as a Project Manager at Armaz International Consulting from 1996 to 1999 for 3 years.

Tomer worked as a Website Editor and User Experience Designer at Jobinfo from 1999 to 2000 for one year and then as a Usability and Product Manager at Softwatch from 2000 to 2002 for two years.

He later became a User Experience Researcher Lead at Check Point Software Technologies in Israel, where he led the research for various networking and Internet security products for four years from 2003 to 2007.

Tomer founded UXPA Israel and served as its president from 2004 to 2007, leading the chapter to raise awareness of the importance of easy-to-use, efficient technology and nurturing a community of 1,000 practitioners over 3 years.

He was the author of three books: Measuring User Happiness (2020), Validating Product Ideas (2016), and It’s Our Research (2012).

Tomer worked as a Senior User Experience Researcher at Google Search from 2008 to 2015 for 7 years and as an Author at Rosenfeld Media from 2014 to 2018 for 4 years.

He also served as the VP and Head of User Experience at WeWork from 2015 to 2018 for 3 years and then moved on to be the Managing Director and Head of User Research & Metrics at Goldman Sachs from 2018 to 2020 for 2 years.

Tomer co-founded “Anywell,” a startup focused on making hybrid work possible, and served as its Chief Experience Officer from 2020 to 2023.

He was also an Advisory Board Member for Bentley University’s McCallum Graduate School of Business from 2022, serving on the Human Factors in Information Design Advisory Board for over 3 years.

Since 2023, he has been the principal owner at UX+ until his passing.

Tomer’s work has had an enormous impact on the UX community and beyond, and his legacy will live on through his groundbreaking contributions, mentorship, and the many lives he touched.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, March 20, at 11 a.m. at Cedar Park Cemetery, 735 Forest Avenue, Paramus, NJ.

The Shiv’a will occur at 15 Holly Lane, Cresskill, from Thursday to Wednesday, with visiting hours from 10 am to 1 pm and 4 pm to 8 pm.
