Trace lost his brother at a very young age!

Trace Adkins has always been influenced by his family’s presence in his private and professional life, especially his young brother.

  • Trace Adkins is an American country music singer and actor.
  • He has two brothers.
  • Adkin’s father has a big role to play in his music career.

Trace Adkins Has Two Brothers

Trace Adkins was born to Peggy Carraway and Aaron Doyle Adkins.

The couple had three sons, including the singer. Trace was the oldest one, born in 1962, while his brothers Clay and Scott were born in 1965 and 1972, respectively.

Sadly, the youngest of them, Scott, passed away in a truck accident in 1993.

The pickup truck that he was in overturned. Moreover, Scott was the biggest fan of his older brother’s music.

Adkins shared,

“He loved to hear me sing and be around that.”

The youngest Adkins was only 21 years old at the time of his demise.

While there are several posts on his social media about his now-first family, he does not entirely share about his brother Clay.

The closeness among the brothers is likely; however, Adkins seems to remain busier in his career even through his social media.

Trace Adkins’ Father Started His Musical Journey

Adkins came from a rather musical family. His maternal uncle, James W. Carraway, was a Christian singer.

Young Trace showed enthusiasm when it came to music. This struck to his father’s knowledge.

Aaron hired someone to train him with music and even bought him a guitar at 10.

This was the beginning of his singing career, and he has never stopped.

When he was a student at Sarepta High School, he joined the New Commitments, a gospel music group.

As a young musician, he also played for a band called “Bayou.”

Though invested in his music career, he also started working as a pharmacy technician side by side.

A sad event in his life reshaped his musical journey. Trace lost a pinky finger when he was trying to open a bucket with a knife.

That would have prevented him from playing the guitar. Fortunately, the doctor was able to reattach his finger on his hand from a certain angle, ensuring he never stopped playing.

He played in the Ark-La-Tex area and then in Nashville, Tennessee.

Adkins met an executive at Arista Records Nashville in 1994. The connection worked in his favor, and Trace had several influential people approach him for work soon after.

Capitol Nashville’s Scott Hendricks met him at a baggage claim in an airport.

Adkins recalled,

“I was introduced to him at the baggage claim at the airport. And he was – just my speaking voice. He was like, ‘Can you sing?’ I was like, ‘A little bit.’ And I invited him to come out and hear me sing in a little club I was playing at. I didn’t expect him to come out, but he did. He came out that weekend. I did the first set, and I turned around and put my guitar down on the stand. I was going to take a break. And he walked up on stage and he said, ‘I’ll give you a record deal.’”

Hendricks saw him sing at the Tillie and Lucy’s bar in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee and signed him then and there.

Since then, he has been signed to several record companies and played and made music for decades.

Trace Adkins Bittersweet Marriage Story

The 62-year-old singer has always been lucky when it came to having a good family.

However, his married life had a few twists and turns before he finally settled for his second wife, actress Victoria Pratt.

When he was married to his first wife, Barbara Lewis, in 1994, Adkins had severe drinking problems and got into a heated argument.

He recalls having threatened her when she pointed a gun at him. This led to her using the gun to hit him. The bullet went through his heart.

While this had caused severe damage, and the doctor even left his family with no hopes of him surviving, the singer made it out alive.

Trace denied pressing charges against his wife. But the former pair separated soon after.

He has been sober since.

Adkins has two daughters, Tarah and Sarah, from his first wife.

Likewise, he has three daughters from his third wife, Rhonda Forlaw, namely Mackenzie, Brianna, and Trinity.
