TwoSet Violin’s Abrupt Departure Likely Linked To Brett Yang’s Health Struggles But Speculations Run Wild

Fans demand an answer!

The duo announced the end of their eleven-year chapter in an Instagram post.

Key Takeaways

  • Brett Yang and Eddy Chen announced the end of their musical duo on October 15, 2024.
  • The cryptic announcement and removing some of their YouTube videos have puzzled fans.
  • The departure could likely be related to Brett Yang’s health concerns.

After eleven incredible years of redefining classical music for a global audience, the famous musical comedy duo TwoSet Violin has announced it will end its chapter.

The Australian duo, Brett Yang and Eddy Chen shared the news in a heartfelt social media post, marking the conclusion of an era that has resonated with millions of fans.

They captioned the Instagram post,

This will be the last piece of content we post as TwoSet Violin.
It’s been a wild ride with you all for the last 11 years. We’ve all grown up together and it’s kinda surreal that we’re ending our chapter here. Thank you for all the laughs, the genuine encounters in real life and all the special moments we’ve had with you online and offline.

Much love, Brett and Eddy

Over the years, they have achieved viral success, attracting over four million subscribers on YouTube.

They have collaborated with world-renowned musicians like Lang Lang, Hilary Hahn, and Maxim Vengerov and even performed with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra using two 1708 Stradivari violins.

The decision to bring TwoSet Violin to an end was possibly motivated by Brett Yang’s health struggles.

In 2020, Brett took a break from performing due to health concerns that required multiple hospital visits.

Eddy expressed their mutual decision to prioritize Brett’s health, emphasizing the uncertainty of when they might be able to return at full capacity.

Although these challenges did not immediately end their performances then, they might have ultimately contributed to their decision to close this chapter now.

However, fans are left puzzled because of the cryptic nature of their final message and the fact that many of their original videos have been removed from their YouTube channel.

One frustrated user commented,

why did you guys take down all your videos? if you’re moving on, at least please explain to us what’s happening and don’t take all your videos down… these videos bring such joy and nostalgia to our lives, why is this happening??? i’m hoping this is just some really cruel joke…

On Reddit, fans of the duo started a thread on r/lingling40hrs to discuss the abrupt announcement.

One Redditor theorized,

I’m on the fence whether it’s a hack or it’s really them. It’s weird, I know their content hasn’t been quite as popular lately so I can understand if they’d want to try something else, but to delete most of their videos? I also would expect they’d give more of a warning or closure out of respect to their fans. But, maybe I’m wrong. Also the remaining videos seem to be intelligently chosen, so maybe it really is them.

Another Redditor was more hopeful.

My other hunch is based on how the caption was worded, and based with their trajectory, they might be rebranding? I hope they drop something in half an hour to formalize this sudden announcement.

While the exact reason for their departure is currently up for speculation, the story is still developing. Hopefully, fans will get their answers soon.
