Leif’s mother, Kristy Schmoldt Berrens, expressed her deep sorrow while thanking those who supported her son’s journey in baseball:

In an effort to support the Berrens family during this difficult time, close friend Sara Timm organized a Meal Train® fundraiser, which has already raised $10,605 of its $15,000 goal.
