A Look Into Hurricane Chris Brothers And His Childhood Challenges

Hurricane Chris’ Childhood Marked by Family Struggles!

Key Takeaways

  • Chris grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana, but didn’t live with his brothers due to his parents’ separation.
  • His father was imprisoned for marijuana possession when Chris was around 11 or 12 years old.
  • Chris claimed that he makes better music than 50 Cent, igniting an argument during the interview.

American rapper Hurricane Chris, who rose to fame with his 2007 debut song “A Bay Bay,” has two brothers.

While Chris grew up as his mother’s only child, he has two half-brothers from his father’s side, with whom he shares a complex and distant relationship.

He was raised in Shreveport, Louisiana, but his parents had split up, so he didn’t grow up alongside his brothers.

Instead of sharing a home with him and his mother, his brothers lived with their own families.

His time with his brothers was limited to visits at his father’s house, and not having them around full-time made his childhood feel a bit lonely.

This mixed family structure divided his life, and he had different experiences at his mother’s and his father’s houses.

He describes life at his father’s house as stable, with financial security, but his mother struggled to make ends meet.

The father of the three siblings was later imprisoned for marijuana possession after being caught with less than 10 pounds. At that time, Chris was only 11 or 12 years old.

The arrest and imprisonment of his father came as a significant shock to young Chris and his half-brothers, who were very close to their dad.

Despite the circumstances, Chris stayed connected with his dad, traveling three to four hours weekly with his aunt to see him in prison.

However, it’s unclear how his brothers coped with their father’s imprisonment, as they were less present in the public narrative that Chris has shared about his upbringing.

After spending four and a half years in prison, Chris’ father was released when Chris was about 15 or 16 years old. Chris mentioned that he and his brothers went together to pick him up.

While Hurricane Chris’ narrative often focuses on his relationship with his mother and father, his brothers remain essential to his extended family.

While Hurricane Chris pursued music, he kept private information about his brothers and parents, including their names and whereabouts.

Hurricane Chris Says 50 Cent Can’t Outshine Him In Music

On September 7, 2024, DJ Vlad’s interview with Hurricane Chris was publicly released on YouTube. Chris stated that he could make better music than 50 Cent.

As they discussed their careers, Chris boldly claimed, “He don’t make better songs than me.”

Vlad promptly defended 50 Cent, which sparked an argument. When Vlad defended 50 Cent, an argument broke out. Vlad said, “50 Cent has a classic with Get Rich or Die Tryin’,” but Hurricane Chris countered, saying 50 can’t outshine him. Chris added:

You [50 Cent] cannot outrap me. You do not make better music than me right now.

Vlad responded, praising 50 Cent as “a hell of a songwriter,” but Hurricane Chris countered, saying,

If 50 was to make a song right now and I make a song right now, I’mma smash that s*it. I make music way better than 50 Cent. I know it’s a fact.

In the course of the interview, Chris also mentioned:

If we were to perform in Shreveport, I perform way longer than 50 and I would rock that sit way harder than 50 or anybody who fking came to Shreveport because I go back since I was 15 years old in high school.

Chris and 50 Cent recently had a feud over the Humor & Harmony Festival in Shreveport in August 2024.

He was upset because 50 failed to highlight enough local artists while using his hometown, even though 50 has no connection there.

50 later responded by implying that the “A Bay Bay” rapper was a one-hit wonder, leading to a social media exchange. 50 wrote on X:

Hurricane Flex 😆boy ya shit is wack, the f*ck you think you @FredoBang 🤨 ya shit gets no play in my ride. LOL

In another post, he wrote:

oh no you not gonna play that 1 song you got, Bay Bay just went on stage wit Master P. LOL.

Chris eventually fired back in a video recorded in his car. He said, “You big dummy, you just proved my point. You don’t know sh*t about the city,” he said, arguing his career is far bigger than just one hit song. He called him a “culture vulture” who was using Louisiana for profit.

Chris later admitted their feud had ended.

Hurricane Chris, famous for his hit “Halle Berry (She’s Fine),” has released two albums so far, titled “51/50 Ratchet” and “Unleashed.”
