The American actress and comedian Sasheer Zamata, who recently came out as a lesbian, is currently single and does not have a partner.

Although she has used dating apps previously, she is not currently interested in meeting potential partners. She shared:

I tried OkCupid years and years ago, and I recognized a few other people from the comedy world on there, and then I just logged off. I was like, ‘This is too weird.’

Sasheer said she’s open to face-to-face encounters but isn’t looking to use dating apps anytime soon. She remarked:

I just wanted to meet someone in person. But you know, in this age we’re in, especially in this moment where we can’t really go meet people in person, I can see the need for it.”

She further added:

I can see why people get a lot out of it because everything’s moving to our phones. So for some people, it is easier to talk to people through an app. And for them, I hope they get a lot out of it.

Even though Sasheer isn’t seeking a romantic partner, she shares a strong bond with her best friend Nicole Byer, with whom she co-hosts the “Best Friends” podcast.

Zamata Discusses Coming Out As A Lesbian

Sasheer Zamata, the former Saturday Night Live star, recently came out as gay, playfully describing herself as a “late-in-life lesbian.”

Speaking with Them on September 9, 2024, she revealed:

I’m out in my life and I do keep my personal life kind of private, but I also don’t necessarily want my identity to be private. I guess I’m one of those late-in-life lesbians. I just feel very comfortable and confident in my life.

When asked why she chose to open up now, the 38-year-old explained:

No one asks straight people about their journey of discovery, but I guess it felt like if I didn’t say anything, I’d be ignoring a part of me, and that doesn’t feel very good. But yeah, I’ve definitely had thoughts of, not necessarily keeping it a secret, but [that] there’s no need to say anything about it.

Moreover, Zamata said she frequently played queer characters in shows like “Woke,” “Home Economics,” “Tuca & Bertie,” and “The Last O.G.” before discovering her own identity. She said:

I was like, ‘Whoa, what are these casting directors seeing that I’m not seeing?’

Responding to the question of whether Hollywood ‘made her gay,’ the actress laughed, “That’s what conservatives joke about all the time. They’re like, ‘Oh my God, they’re turning everyone gay.’ And it happened.”

Zamata shared that she started questioning her sexuality after landing queer roles following her time on SNL.
