A Legendary Colorado Career
Tom Green’s broadcasting journey began long before many of today’s viewers were born.
He moved from Bristol, Connecticut, to Denver in 1982, trading an early role at ESPN for a new adventure in Colorado, a state he’d only known from books and TV.
That gamble paid off.
“My first stop, once I hit town, was 9NEWS – the ‘old building’ – at 1089 Bannock St. I didn’t know anyone really, but I was excited … and terrified.”

Since then, he’s become a Colorado icon whose voice is inseparable from the state’s sports history.

He spent over 13 years at KUSA/9NEWS, worked at KMGH, hosted on KWGN’s Daybreak for 15 years, and even co-hosted sports talk radio with Doug Moe and Dan Issel.
Four-time Colorado Sportscaster of the Year, 10-time Emmy winner, and a genuine original.

He hinted at a few ongoing projects and expressed uncertainty about whether or not he’ll work full-time again.
Still, fans can expect to see him pop up in a more relaxed, possibly creative role that allows more time for his passions like golf and photography.
And who knows? Maybe he’ll even crack a few retirement jokes in typical Tom Green fashion.
A Grateful Sign-Off
In his own words, Tom thanked the people of Colorado for welcoming him, supporting him, and growing with him through four decades of dramatic change in news, sports, and life.
“Thanks to so many people I’ve had the chance to work with and get to know over the years. The people of Colorado have always been so kind to me.”
